Monday, 24 August 2015
A day after local Awami League leader Arzu Mia's brother sued him for murder, RAB-2 commander Lt Col Masud Rana has been withdrawn from his command. RAB spokesperson Maqsudul Alam said that Rana was moved to the RAB headquarters (Dhaka’s Uttara). "He has been moved from his command to the headquarters on explicit orders of the RAB director general Benazir Ahmed," Alam said. Hazaribagh Awami League leader Arzu Mia was accused of beating local minor boy Mohammed Raja to death on August 16 for alleged theft. Raja's sister Reshma Begum filed a case against Arzu and he was picked up the same night by RAB. Within a few hours, the BCL leader is said to have died in an 'shootout'. RAB says they took Arzu with them to nab the other suspects involved in Raja's lynching. The law enforcers claimed they were attacked by Arzu's accomplices resulting in the encounter, according to bdnews24.com.
