RAB arrests 12 militants with 'links' to Hasina attack

The Rapid Action Battalion has arrested 12 militants with suspected ties to banned Islamic outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen and seized a cache of 16 grenades and other devices in an intensive operation, a RAB official said Monday. Three suspects in custody confessed that they were connected with the August 21, 2004 grenade attack on Awami League president Sheikh Hasina on Bangabandhu Avenue, AK Azad, chief of RAB media and legal affairs wing, told bdnews24.com. Based on intelligence from detained Harkatul Jihad leader Mufti Hannan, RAB conducted the drive from Sunday night through to early Monday in different parts of the city.
