FE REPORT | Thursday, 6 October 2022
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two persons who were sentenced to life term imprisonment for killing a Hindu man during a robbery in 2011 and remained absconding since.
The arrestees were identified as Sukkur Ali (50) and his right-hand Didar Mia (40).
RAB -3 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed disclosed this to the media at a press briefing at the crime busting force's media centre in the capital's Karwan Bazar on Wednesday.
He said based on secret information, a team of RAB-3 arrested the duo from Fatullah area in Narayanganj district on Tuesday night.
The arrestees had involvement with the outlawed Purba Banglar Sarbahara Party, he added.
The RAB official further said both Sukkur and Didar gained their notoriety due to their terrorist acts in Habiganj, Kishoreganj and Netrakona districts.
In 2011, Sukkur and Didar along with their other associates had committed a robbery at a house in Khaliajuri upazila of Netrakona district.
During the robbery, they chopped to death the son of the house owner, Monoranjan, as he tried to resist them.
Monoranjan later filed a murder case with Khaliajuri Police Station.
The court awarded them life term imprisonment in absentia in 2019.
After remaining in hiding for a long time, they at last were arrested by the elite force.
