RAB men held for \\\'attempt to grab land\\\'
Monday, 9 June 2014
Police have arrested five people, including two personnel of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in Dhaka on charges of an attempt to snatch a piece of land. Uttarkhan Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Younus Ali said there were disputes over ownership of the land in the city’s Uttarkhan area. Local people caught the five and handed them to police when the land owners were attacked on Sunday. The arrests come amid the elite force’s announcement that it would no longer carry out operations other than its primary objectives. ‘The locals cordoned off the attackers and informed the police,” OC Ali said. Police, however, did not divulge the identities of the arrested RAB personnel and the elite police unit is yet to say anything about the arrests, according to bdnews24.com.
