RAB nabs two 'Allah'r Dal men' in Gaibandha

RANGPUR, Jan 29 (BSS): Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested two alleged operatives of banned militant outfit Allah'r Dal from Merirhat Bazar in Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha on Thursday night.
On a tip-off, a special operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur headquarters conducted the drive and arrested the suspected militants along with books on religious uprising, leaflets and a mobile phone set from the spot.
The arrestees are Md Abdul Alim Mandal (42), son of Usman Gani Mandal, and Md Shafiul Islam (28), son of Md Khwaja Mian of Palashbari upazila.
During interrogation, Alim admitted that he was earlier a fulltime chief coordinator of the banned militant organisation for Kurigram district while Shafiul Islam admitted his involvement in the organisation's Polashbari unit.
They had been conducting activities for the banned militant organisation for a long time.
They had been regularly paying and collecting tolls, inspiring pious people through misinterpreting religion taking advantage of their faith in Islam and collecting new members and money for running organisational activities.
The elite force handed the detainees over to Palashbari thana after completing necessary legal process.
