A polished 97-run knock by one down Rabiul Karim guided bottom ranked City Club to taste a 26-run victory over Young Pegasus Club in a relegation league match of the Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka Tuesday.
It was the first victory for the City Club in their 11 matches of the first phase and two relegation league matches.
Winning the toss, City Club opened the innings first to score a moderate 255 for 8 in 50 overs.
After the departure of opener Russell Al Mamun (1) for just three runs in five balls, another opener Masukur Rahman pairing with one down Rabiul Karim contributed 184 runs in the 2nd wicket stand to make a solid foundation for City Club win.
Rabiul furnished his 126-ball 97 runs innings with five boundaries while Maysukur Rahman added another fruitful 81 runs off 133 deliveries hitting two fours and one six.
Mohammad Jubair grabbed four wickets for 61.
In reply, Young Pegasus Club were all out for 229 runs in 47.1 overs with opener Jupiter Ghosh making 51 runs off 61 balls, including seven boundaries.
Arman Haider claimed three wickets for 23 runs while Golam Hossain and Russell Al Mamun took two wickets each for 29 and 42 runs respectively, reports UNB.
