Rabiul\\\'s murderer Miraj confesses to killing

The man, accused of killing ten-year-old Rabiul Awal at Amkhola village in Taltoli upazila of Barguna district two days back, confessed to killing the minor boy. Police said Mohammad Miraz gave confessional statement to Amtali Senior Judicial Magistrate Baijayanta Biswas’s court at about 10:00am on Thursday. However, the Barguna police refused to give details on the confession made by Miraz 'for the sake of investigation'. Miraz, in his twenty, allegedly tortured to death Rabiul Awal, 10, a madrasa student and son of Dulal Mridha of Shonakata village in Taltoli upazila, at Amkhola village over a trifling matter on Monday. Locals said, Miraz, who used to catch fish at Lutrar Khal (canal) adjacent to Rabiul's house, picked up a quarrel with Rabiul and hurled abusive words at the boy accusing him of stealing his fishes on Monday. At one stage, he threatened to kill the boy. Rabiul went missing on Monday evening. On Tuesday afternoon, a local youngman found the body of Rabiul and informed his family members. Being informed, police rushed to the village and recovered the body and sent it to Barguna General Hospital for autopsy, police and locals said. Victim’s father Dulal Mridha lodged a complaint and police arrested Miraz. The brutal incident came after 12-year-old Rakib and 13-year-old Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon were brutally murdered in Khulna and Sylhet respectively within a month, according to a news agency.
