Radisson Blu goes into operation in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Apr 16: Radisson Blu, one of the world's leading hotel brands, recently announced the opening of Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View in the port city. The luxury hotel kicked off its commercial operation on April 14, the first day of the Bengali New Year 1422.
Humayun Bakht, managing director of Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View announced this at a press conference held at the hotel.
It is the first upper upscale international hotel in Chittagong and is located in Agrabad commercial area. The hotel will be the second Radisson Blu hotel operating in Bangladesh.
The hotel is near the historical monuments and major tourist attractions such as Chittagong Circuit House, Patenga Sea Beach, Foy's Lake, Vatiary Lake, Ethnological Museum, War Cemetery and Butterfly Park.
Humayun Bakht said, "235 rooms of the hotel have already been booked for the current month. Promotional rates of the rooms for April, May and June this year are US$ 155, $ 400 for junior suites, $ 775 for executive suites, $ 2500 for the royal suite and $ 5500 for the presidential suite. 15 per cent VAT and 10 per cent service charge to be added in all cases."
"The investment on Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View adds yet another platform for Sena Hotel Developments Ltd (SHDL) to contribute to the country's socio-economic growth and wellbeing of serving and retired army personnel and their families, martyred families of the armed forces and also meet its obligation to its corporate social responsibilities," he said.
The hotel has all the hallmarks of the first class Radisson Blu brand. Offering panoramic views of the Bay and the city, the hotel has 222 rooms, 13 junior suites, four executive suites, one 284 square metre royal suite and 304 square metre presidential suite each.
For fitness and health enthusiasts, the hotel offers an internationally renowned spa, infinity pool, gymnasium and tennis court. The 20-storey plus two basements, that is 22-storey huge structure with approximately 86,000 square feet per floor up to Level 5 and 20,000 sft per floor in the upper levels took three years and nine months to construct at the estimated cost of Tk 5.0 billion (Tk 500 crore).
Thomas Hagemann, vice president of Carlson Radisson hotel group and general manager of the Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View also spoke at the press conference.
