Rafiqul Islam Mia injured as brickbat hurled at him in city

BNP candidate Rafiqul Islam Mia from Dhaka-16 was wounded as unknown attackers pelted brickbats at his procession near Nannu Market in the city's Mirpur area Friday, reports UNB.
Witnesses said unidentified people threw brickbats at Rafiq while he was passing by the area in a procession that started from Indoor Stadium.
Rafiq was taken to nearby ward commissioner's office and given first aid.
Meanwhile, at least eight people were injured in clashes at Adamdighi and Dupchachia between supporters of Awami League (AL) rebel and BNP candidates of Bogra-3 constituency.
The clashes in two places occurred at 6:00pm while supporters were returning home in processions after the projection meetings. Both sides used sticks and stones leaving eight persons wounded.
Golam Rabbani, Kabir Hossain, Shariful Islam and Habibur Rahman, supporters of Ansar Ali (AL) and Muktar Hossan, Ainul Haq and Shahidul Islam, supporters of Abdul Momin Khoka (BNP) were admitted to local health complex.
