Rafiqur Rahman wins Reuters Journalist of the Year Award

Rafiqur Rahman, the principal television shooter for Reuters Television in Bangladesh, has won the prestigious Reuters Journalist of the Year Award, reports bdnews24.com.
The London-based global news agency in a statement has said Rafiq had been declared 'Camera Operator of the Year 2007' for his hard work in the field of photojournalism.
The agency said Rafiq's work on tumultuous political development, including declaration of state of emergency and days of curfew in 2007, had earned him the in-house award.
"Reuters had been able to showcase remarkable, exclusive video coverage of Bangladesh through Rafiq's dedication to the story even in the most hazardous conditions," said David Schlesinger, Reuters editor-in-chief.
Rafiq had been work in photojournalism for 27 years. He had worked for various local newspapers before joining Reuters.
