Rahmatganj play goalless draw against Sheikh Russell

Tuesday, 19 October 2010

Rahmatganj MFS forced Sheikh Russell KC to a goalless draw in the opening final round match of the GrameenPhone Federation Cup Football at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city on Monday.
Rahmatganj, which finished 4th in the last year's meet, seemed quite comfortable against the new soccer powerhouse Sheikh Russell KC and clearly kept the day's match under control, especially in the first half, reports UNB.
Old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS came close to scoring early in the 11th minute, but Sheikh Russell KC's custodian Al-Amin brilliantly saved the shot taken by Rahmatganj foreign recruit Paul James from the danger zone.
Rahmatganj were again deprived of a goal in the 38th minute as Ugandan striker Idris Kasirye failed to send the ball home from vantage position off a Paul pass from the right flank.
After the lemon break, Sheikh Russell KC got their only scoring chance in the 65th minute, but they also failed to take lead. Striker Mejbahul Haque must consider him unlucky as his right-footer from 15 yards returned to play after hitting the crossbar.
Sheikh Russell KC - Al-Amin, Aminul, Bappi, Mollah, Abbas, Moru, Manik, Raju, Mohammad Yousuf, Samir and Yousuf.
Rahmatganj MFS - Iran Sheikh, Rimon, Ashraf, Alam, Micheal, Emon, Felix, Idris, Paul, Jamal and Prosanto.
