Raid at ex-MP's son's father-in-law's house

Tk 11m cash, foreign currencies, vehicles seized

A joint team recovered cash worth over Tk 11 million, foreign currencies and vehicles of land cruiser and harrier brands during a raid at a house in the capital's Uttara area on early Monday.
The team, consisting of army personnel and police members of Uttara West Police Station, also arrested three persons - Sahjada Khan Sajjad, Md Tojidul Islam and Md Saiful Islam.
Deputy police commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Talebur Rahman disclosed these to the media on the day.
The arrestees confessed that the cash and two cars belonged to former Member of Parliament (MP) of Dhaka-18 constituency Md Habib Hasan and his family members. The owner of the raided house at Sector-7 is the father-in-law of Abir Hassan Tamim, son of the former MP.
Acting on secret information, the joint team raided the house and recovered 65 pieces of US$ 100 notes, four pieces of $20 notes, 41 pieces of 1,000 Thai baht notes, two pieces of 50 Saudi riyal notes, and five pieces of 100 Canadian dollar notes from there.
