Rail link with Jamalpur restored

Tuesday, 11 November 2014

Trains have started off for Jamalpur eight hours after a derailment cut its rail links. One compartment of a train headed to Mymensingh from Bangabandhu (Jamuna) Bridge East Railway Station was derailed near Jamalpur district’s Chechia embankment around 4:00pm on Monday. A hydraulic trolley van was brought in to remove the derailed compartment blocking the railway tracks connecting Jamalpur’s Tarakandi to the eastern side of the Jamuna Bridge. But trains have resumed since midnight (12am) after the tracks were cleared, said Tarakandi Rail Station Master Matiur Rahman, according to a news agency.
