Railway Board (repeal) Act approved

The Cabinet has approved a draft of the ‘Bangladesh Railway Board (repeal) Act 2014’. Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan has said after a Cabinet meeting. He said, ‘The proposed law intends to bring some changes to the railway board ordinance promulgated during military regimes. A Bengali version of the law has been submitted to the cabinet.’ Bangladesh Railway had operated as per the Bangladesh Railway Board Ordinance 1976. Later in 1983, the government brought another ordinance to control the railway operations. The cabinet secretary said, ‘The proposed law will strengthen the legal framework under which the railway is operating,’ according to a news agency.
