Railway to import 150 bogies from Indonesia at a cost of Tk 2,160m

The Railway is going to add 150 new bogies to its fleet soon under a project funded by Bangladesh government and Asian Development Bank (ADB). Indonesian firm Inka PT will supply the bogies (coaches/compartments) under ‘Bangladesh Railway Sector Investment Programme’’ Of the bogies, 100 are metre gauge while the rest 50 are broad gauge. The BR on Thursday signed an agreement with Inka PT in this regard at the Rail Bhaban. Railways Minister M Mujibul Haq was present as the chief guest. ‘The government has already undertaken 41 projects for the development of railway. A radical change will take place with implementation of the projects in the next 4 years,’ Mujibul Haq said. BR sources said the new bogies would be supplied in next 20 to 24 months at a cost of Tk 2,160.58 million, according to a news agency.
