Rain has brought respite from the scorching heat that lasted for a week in Dhaka.
However, commuters and other travellers faced difficulties on the road due to the rain on Wednesday, reports bdnews24.com.
It rained more or less all across the country on Wednesday, said Meteorolo-gist Hafizur Rahman of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
"Dhaka recorded 26 mm of rain as of 9am on Wednesday. However, the rain began to intensify after 9am and is likely to continue for the rest of the day," he said. The rain will continue on Thursday as well, Hafizur said.
Samia Rahman, a resident of Mirpur, has a job in Old Dhaka.
"I got drenched after getting off the metro rail and before taking a rickshaw ride. Yes, the heat has subsided due to the rain, but now I'm afraid of getting sick," she said.
Another Mirpur resident Ayon Rahman said he usually left home around 8am for his office in Motijheel. He did not expect any rain.
"I was not carrying an umbrella. Now the rain has started and I'm all soaked," Ayon said.
