Rain continues in different places of country

Rain has been continuing in different places of Bangladesh including Dhaka and Chittagong divisions and the capital city. Met Office said incessant rains have been continuing since Thursday night and will continue until Monday evening. The continuous rains make different streets of Dhaka city and some of the major cities submerged in water. Waterlogging makes movement of vehicles as well as passers-by difficult in some parts of Dhaka. Met office recorded 90mm rainfall in Dhaka in 24 hours ending 6am on Sunday while 9mm rainfall was recorded till 12noon on Sunday. According to the Met Office, 45mm rainfall was recorded in Hatiya upazila of Noakhali, 38mm in Comilla, 32mm in Feni, 37mm in Sandwip of Chittagong, 32mm in Khepupara, 45mm in Ishwardi of Pabna and 30mm in Sitakunda of Chittagong from Sunday morning till 12noon. The maximum rainfall was recorded 109mm in Sitakunda in the last 24 hours till 6am on Sunday. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and thence northeastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends to Northwest Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay. Met Office forecast light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at most places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions till 6pm on Monday.
