Rainy Eid likely in most places

Rain and thundershowers are expected in most places of Bangladesh during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations on Saturday and the following two days. Officials at the Met Office at Agargaon in Dhaka said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at most places over the country on July 19, the Eid day. Meteorological Department’s weather forecast official Nijhum Ara said there might be light to moderate rain on Saturday morning. “It will continue until Sunday. But the possibility of heavy rain is little,” she said. The Met office said most areas of the country, including Dhaka, were witnessing moderate to heavy rains for some days due to monsoon. It recorded 6 millimetres rain in Dhaka from 6:00am to 6:00am on Friday. Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country in the next 24 hours till 6:00pm on Saturday. The day and night temperatures will remain almost unchanged around. The weekly weather forecast of the Meteorological Department also mentioned that there is possibility of moderately heavy rainfall at places across the country during the first half of the period of July 16 (Friday) to July 22.
