Rajesh Khanna to get IIFA Lifetime Achievement Award

India's legendary actor Rajesh Khanna will be felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 10th IDEA IIFA Awards to be held at Macau during June 11-13.
The actor, touted as Bollywood's first superstar, ruled the Indian screen from the 60s', well into the 70s' with his trademark histrionics that included his twinkling naughty eyes, stylish shake of the head and enigmatic smile, report wire services.
He made his debut in 1966 with ''Aakhri Khat'', followed by ''Raaz'' and ''Baharon Ke Sapne'' and cemented his legendary status with performances in films like ''Aurat'', ''Khamoshi'' and ''Aradhana''. His other memorable performances include ''Avtaar'' in 1983.
''We honour Khanna, who has undoubtedly defined romance in Indian films. He is considered as the first superstar of Indian cinema and has influenced an entire genre of romantic movies, creating a legendary persona that strikes a chord with the youth, even today,'' said Sabbas Joseph, director, Wizcraft International Entertainment, which initiated the awards.
Khanna will receive the award at the IIFA Awards, to be held at Macau from June 11-13, and join Lata Mangeshkar, Waheeda Rahman, Mumtaz and Dharmendra as recipients.
