SYLHET, July 22: Enquiry is on regarding the police's negligence in duty and bribe allegations in connection with the Rajon murder case. Legal actions would be taken against the concerned officials, said the home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal this afternoon while visiting the house of 13-year old Samiul Alam Rajon, who was tortured to death by some locals at Kumargaon bus stand on Sylhet-Sunamganj road on July 8 morning.
The minister came to Sylhet on a short visit Wednesday and went to the house of gruesome murder victim in an unscheduled programme. Talking the newsmen, Kamal said none will be spared in the killing and torture and steps are being taken against the culprits.
Accused Kamrul is also being brought to the country from Saudi Arabia, he added, but some legal complexity is there. He will be brought soon and placed before the court, the minister said adding, the home ministry had already taken the case documents and things were being monitored rightly.
While consoling the deceased's parents, the minister handed over Tk 0.1 million (Tk one lakh).
The minister is set to join a BGB programme and visit the shrines of Hajrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hajrat Shahporan (RA) before leaving for Srimangal this evening.
Meanwhile, the probe committee, headed by the additional Commissioner of SMP, SM Rukon Uddin would file its report July 23. In addition to the allegations of bribe and negligence in duty, the committee is investigating the matter of quick filing of the case, in which Sub Inspector Aminul Islam stated 'an unidentified thief had been beaten to death.
The committee had talked to the concerned people including some locals and the family.
Rajon was beaten to death by a group who blamed him as a thief. They also videoed the torture and gruesome killing and spread it through social media.
Failing to sexual torture the night guard Moina Mia handed over the victim to others blaming him as a thief, locals alleged. But he didn't mention it in the confessional statement Monday.
Besides, the killers negotiated the matter for Tk 1.2 million with the officer in charge (Investigation) Alamgir Hossain and Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam for recording the incident as 'death of an unidentified thief'. Part payment was also made before Kamrul was allowed to leave for Saudi Arabia.
Rajon's family and locals alleged, biased police had filed the case hurriedly just for protecting the killers.
Moreover, police officials had turned away Rajon's father, who went to the police station for filing a complaint accusing the killers. The officials also berated Rajon's father calling him 'the father of a thief.' However, following day, Rajon's father's case was recorded.
The main accused Kamrul managed police through bribe and flew to Saudi Arabia, where he was caught by some Bangladeshis after days.
