Rajshahi beat Sylhet with Shanto's heroics

Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto's heroics of 101 helped Rajshahi Warriors to chase down a mammoth 191 total against Sylhet Titans at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium during the first match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Monday.
Mushfiqur Rahim assisted Shanto with a half century as Rajshahi cruised to victory by eight wickets with two balls remaining.
The pair added 130 runs for the third wicket, knocking Sylhet out of the contest before the final over.
Shanto faced 60 deliveries to get to his century, which comprised ten fours and five sixes, with ten boundaries coming out of his bat during the last fifty runs.
Parvez Hossain Emon was the best batter of Sylhet who played till the end to 65 of 33.
Sri Lankan Binura Fernando took Pakistani Saim Ayub's wicket for Rajshahi, while teammate Nepalese Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets.
Afghan Hazratullah Zazai got 20 runs facing 18 balls before being stumped by Mushfiqur on a Lamichhane delivery. Fellow batter English cricketer Ethan Brookes got a duck in the first ball of Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
Winning the toss, Rajshahi elected to field. The game concluded about three and a half hours after it started at 03:00 PM BST, with a 20 minute interval.
Chattogram Challengers chose to bat against Noakhali Express at the second game of the tournament, which began at 07:15 PM.
