Rajshahi emerge zonal champions

Rajshahi DSA emerged Dhaka zone champions to reach the final round of the Spectra Group National Women's Kabaddi Championship beating Gaibandha DSA by 59-17 points with four "lonas" in the zonal final at the Dhanmondi Women's Sports Complex gymnasium in the city Saturday, reports UNB.
Fatema Akhter Sheela of Rajshahi DSA was adjudged the best player of the Dhaka Zone.
The two Dhaka zone finalists -- Rajshahi and Gaibandha DSAs -- have already reached the seven-team final round that begins Sunday at the Dhaka Kabaddi Stadium.
Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Kutubuddin Ahmed will inaugurate the four-day final round in the afternoon.
There will be four matches on the opening day (Sunday) of the final round -- Bangladesh Ansar vs Jhenidah (8:30 am), Narail vs Gaibandha (9:15 am), Bangladesh Ansar vs Narail (3:30 pm) and Rajshahi vs Faridpur (3:45 pm).
Seven teams, split into two groups, are initially competing on league basis matches in the final round.
Participating teams:
Group A - Bangladesh Ansar & VDP, Gaibandha, Narail and Jhenidah DSAs;
Group B - Rajshahi, Faridpur and Jamalpur DSAs.
Later, two top teams from each group will play in the semi-finals on July 29. The final match will be held on July 30.
