RAJSHAHI, Sept 11: The joint forces in Rajshahi are soon going to start an operation against the dishonest traders and businessmen of the district, informed Lieutenant Colonel Sharif Ahmed, spokesman of the joint forces journalists in Rajshahi Sunday.
The journalists were informed that the joint forces were preparing a list of dishonest traders, hoarders and businessmen on the basis of information gathered from various agencies and common people.
The joint forces have also taken up projects to set up a number of 'farmers markets' at the city centres and outskirts of the city so that the farmers can directly sell their commodities in those markets without falling into the hands of middlemen.
Lieutenant Colonel Sharif said, to check the possible price hike on the onset of the holy Ramadan, the joint forces had taken a number of action programmes which included breaking the syndicate of traders which forcibly purchased commodities like farm products at very low prices and sold those to consumers at exorbitant prices.
He further said, farmers would be able to sell their commodities at the 'farmers' markets' without paying any tax ensuring a fair price of the products and preserve the interest of the consumers. Major Didar was present during the press conference.
