Rajshahi maintains all-win record, Barisal taste first victory

Hosts Rajshahi Division maintained their all-win record in the one-day Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League beating Dhaka Division by 21 runs in the 5th round at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium Thursday, reports UNB.
In the day's other matches, Barisal Division tasted the first victory as they upset Khulna Division by four wickets at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra while Sylhet Division took revenge of their 6-wicket defeat against Chittagong Division in the four-dayer beating them by 24 runs at the Bir Shershtho Shaheed Ruhul Amin Stadium in Chittagong.
On completion of the fifth round matches, Khaled Mashud Pilot-led Rajshahi Division tops the one-day list securing full 10 points. Khulna Division follows the leaders with six points while Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet share in the third slot with four points.
Barisal Division remained at the bottom securing two points from five matches.
Sent in to bat first in the day's match, Rajshahi Division, riding on two fifties by middle order Nayeem Islam and national opener Junaed Siddiqui, scored a moderate 224 for 8 in allocated 50 overs.
Number five Nayeem Islam scored 73 not out off 107 balls with seven fours and was adjudged man of the match while opener Junaed Siddiqui made useful 59 runs off 56 balls with nine fours.
Season's consistent performer Mosharraf Hossain Rubel and Mohammad Sharif grabbed three wickets for 18 and 55 runs respectively.
In reply, national skipper Mohammad Ashraful-led Dhaka Division were all out for 203 in 47.3 overs to suffer their third defeat in the fifth match despite Ashraful's 62-ball 55 runs embellished with four fours and a six.
Farhad Hossain captured three wickets for 18 runs while Shahaq Al Zabir, Mahbub Alam and Saqlain Sajib took two wickets each for 34, 35, 42 runs respectively.

Later, Imran Ahmed was adjudged man of the match.
Opener Hannan Sarkar also contributed a polished 70 runs off 94 deliveries that feature nine fours.
