RAJSHAHI, July 14 (BSS): Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has said the Rajshahi metropolis would be enriched with the sports facilities for its highlighting in the global arena.
He said many of the poor and developing countries have become familiarised by dint of only the sports sector especially football and cricket.
So, we have no more time to neglect the sports field, he asserted.
Mayor Liton made these observations while inaugurating a three-month cricket training workshop organised by Rajshahi Cricket Academy at Shaheed AHM Quamaruzzaman Divisional Stadium here yesterday afternoon as the chief guest.
He mentioned that the cricket academy has been built beside the divisional stadium like the existing Women Sports Complex and a swimming pool will also be constructed here.
In this context, he added that necessary measures would be taken for making the academy more updated so that all the energetic and young cricketers from across the northern region could have chance of getting training here.
"We will donate an automatic bowling machine to the academy on behalf of Rajshahi City Corporation," he assured and hoped that the academy would be an international standard cricket institution through providing quality training.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nurul Islam, General Secretary of Rajshahi divisional sports association Imtiaj Ahmed Shamsul Huda Kislu, Director of the academy Khaled Masud Pilot and Deputy Director of National Sports Council Badar Uddin were, among others, present at the meeting.
