Rajshahi transport strike halted

Owners have called off the transport strike in Rajshahi Division.
The decision came hours after transport owners and workers put off their strike in districts of north Dhaka, Gazipur and greater Mymensingh until May 29.
Rajshahi Bus-Truck Owners Unity Council Convenor Monjur Rahman Peter Tuesday night told bdnews24.com their decision followed high-level assurance from the government.
Earlier in the afternoon, Mymensingh District Motor Owners’ Association President Mamatajuddin said they decided to halt their strike after a meeting.
The meeting took place between the Dhaka division’s (north) transport owners and workers and Communications Minister Obaidul Quader, State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and senior police officers in Dhaka.
