Rajuk cheif Abdur Rahman may get two-year extension

The incumbent chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk), Abdur Rahman, may get contractual appointment of two more years to continue as its chairman, a Public Administration Ministry source said.
In a DO letter issued on March 31, Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim recommended extending Mr Rahman's tenure as the Rajuk chairman to the secretary of the Public Administration Ministry.
In the letter, Mr Rezaul praised the contribution and efficiency of Mr Rahman in implementing various big housing projects with a vision 'Housing for all'.
The projects include Purbachal New Town project, Uttara (3rd phase) residential project, Jhilmil residential project, Uttara apartment project at sector 18, Jhilmil residential park project, Kuril-Purbachal canal project, proposed Purbachal high-rise apartment project under PPP, Gulshan-Baridhara lake development project, conservation of flood flow zone in Turag area, compact township development project and so on.
The minister also mentioned that transparency has been ensured in Rajuk's works and execution of the projects has been accelerated after Mr Rahman took over the charge.
The minister said the issue of Mr Rahman's contractual appointment
has already been discussed with the Prime Minister.
The PRL of Mr Rahman which is due on May 14, 2019 should be cancelled and necessary steps be taken for his contractual appointment.
Mr Rahman took charge as the Rajuk chairman on June 11, 2017.
