Rajuk to go for re-tender on Uttara bridge project

Thursday, 27 December 2012

FE Report
The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) on Wednesday decided to go for re-tender for the works relating to the Uttara bridge project within the next two weeks following last Monday's incidents in which the bidding documents from one of the bidder-construction firms were snatched.
With this end in view, the development authority for the capital city issued on the day a notice about re-tendering for the works of the bridge project.
"We have decided to call fresh tenders within the next 14 working days," Chairman of Rajuk Md Nurul Huda told the FE Wednesday.
He said the decision has been taken after considering the overall situation.
The bridge will be built at an estimated cost of Taka 250 million in the Uttara Third phase residential area, which is under development by the Rajuk.
Earlier, a gang of miscreants snatched the bidding documents from one of the bidders Monday for the construction work of the bridge, from the Rajuk premises. But the Rajuk sources said the incident occurred outside its office premises.
Adequate police and Rab personnel, however, have been deployed at the Rajuk to ward off any untoward incident in the future.
