Rajya Sabha passes amended LBA bill

Tuesday, 12 May 2015

The Upper House of the Indian Parliament has approved amendments to the land boundary agreement (LBA) bill to correct an error in the name of the Act, reports bdnews24.com.
"The 119th amendment was presented in 2013, we had amended the title when we presented the bill in Rajya Sabha," said External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in the Rajya Sabha Monday.
"But we were told the rest would be consequential amendment. So we did not move them.
"The Lok Sabha wanted it to be amended everywhere in the bill, so it is done again," she added.
Swaraj tabled the amended bill in the Rajya Sabha Monday afternoon.
Opposition leaders criticised the government for the "mistake" soon after theĀ  bill was tabled afresh.
