RAKUB asked to work more for expediting agro-based economy

RAJSHAHI, Sept 2 (BSS): The Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) has been asked to play a more significant role in facilitating the region's agro-based economy.
Speakers made the request while addressing the inaugural function of the bank's new premises of Rajshahi branch at Malopara area Tuesday.
They mentioned that the activities of the specialised bank should be more service-oriented and need-based so that the target group of people could derive its benefits properly.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Fazley Hossain Badsha MP were present at the function as the chief and special guests respectively, while Deputy General Manager of the bank Abdul Khaleque Khan presided.
Highlighting the role of the bank towards uplifting the region's economic position and socio-economic development they noted that its activities should be more expanded to the unexplored areas.
"We have no alternative to boost food grain production to ensure food security along with sustainable livelihood of the poor and marginal people," said Mayor Liton adding that the RAKUB has a vital role to play in this connection.
