RAKUB to disburse loan for Boro, potato cultivation in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Nov 10: Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) has taken a massive plan to disburse agriculture loan among the farmers of the district for Boro and potato cultivation during the current Robi season, reports BSS.
The aim of the loan disbursement is to encourage and help the farmers boost production of crops for achieving country's food security by 2012, official sources said.
A total of taka 0.30 billion would be disbursed among the farmers of seven upazilas of the district through 24 branches of the bank during the current fiscal, the sources added.
Of the total, some taka 0.06 billion has already been distributed among 1,702 farmers of the district till November 5 to help them boost production of crops.
Zonal manager of the RAKUB Abdul Jalil told the agency that necessary measures has been taken to disburse the targeted loan to the farmers.
About 1, 20,000 hectares of land would be brought under Boro paddy and 9,300 hectares of land under potato cultivation in the district during the current season, DAE official sources said.
