Rallies across country if foiled in Gazipur, warns Gayeshwar

Friday, 26 December 2014

BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy warned Thursday that they will hold rallies across the country Saturday if their scheduled one in Gazipur on the day is blocked by ruling party activists, reports UNB.
"We'll go to Gazipur on December 27… we'll establish our rights to hold a public rally at any cost though other rights are now obliterated. We'll hold rallies all over the country if they obstruct our rally in Gazipur, and we'll put barricades in all other parts of the country if they create obstacles in Gazipur," Mr Gayeshwar came up with the warning while addressing a discussion arranged by pro-BNP platform 'Swadhinata Forum' at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU).
Earlier Thursday night, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia directed her party's senior leaders of Gazipur to make the 20-party's scheduled rally in the district a success, foiling all the obstacles to it.
Khaleda told the Gazipur leaders that she will leave her Gulshan residence at around 2:00 pm for attending the rally on December 27.
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) announced to thwart the BNP's December 27 rally unless BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman apologises for calling Bangabandhu a 'Razakar'.
Gayeshwar said the ruling party men are living in fool's paradise if they think BNP has become week. "It won't be possible to annihilate BNP. You won't be able to face people when they'll take to the streets to resist you."
The BNP leader asked his party men to get ready to give a befitting reply if the ruling party men attack them. "We've right to launch a counter attack if they unlawfully attack us. We've to give them a reply whenever they attack us."
Mentioning that when law is not equal for all then it is not possible to realise people's demand by complying with the law.
Gayeshwar warned that the ruling party must face the same consequence one day the way the party is now harassing the opposition men by implicating them in 'false' cases. "A day will come when you'll have to spend busy time at the corridors of courts."
Stating that the government will not be able to subdue their movement, he renewed their demand for a fresh election under a non-party administration with its repressive acts.
The BNP policymaking body member criticised the government for filing two cases against opposition leaders and activists in connection with Wednesday's Bakshibazar violence, saying the regime is filing 'false' cases against them as it got isolated from people.
