Ramadan

Thursday, 13 September 2007

THE holy month of Muslim abstinence has almost arrived. This is the lunar month for fortifying the self with patience, prayer and piety.
But piety is not that you throw away millions of money towards the poor with contempt or boastfully with a sense of superiority. Piety is what you give and do in secret to relieve the distress of the under-privileged with an inner feeling of oneness and for sharing a part of your wealth with them.
The recurrent floods in this country this time may be a disguised Divine blessing for the righteous and the pious. Earn closeness of thy Lord through generous acts of concealed piety to as much as possible.
