Ramna Batamul bombing verdict Jun 16

The verdict for the bombing in Ramna during the Bangla New Year celebrations in 2001 will be delivered more than a decade after the incident. Dhaka’s second Metropolitan Sessions Judge Ruhul Amin scheduled the verdict on June 16 after the case’s arguments ended on Wednesday, state prosecutor Md Zahid Sardar has said. More than a dozen people died and scores were injured after the explosion hit the packed audience of a Pahela Baishakh programme at Ramna Park’s historic ‘Batamul’ on April 14, 2001. Two cases over murder and explosion were filed by Nilkhet Police Sergeant Amal Chandra Chanda that very day, according to bdnews24.com.
