Ramna, Motijheel police stations decline to take FIR against Mashhud

Former Energy Adviser and BOI chief executive Mahmudur Rahman Saturday made vain attempts to lodge a first information report (FIR) against ACC Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Hassan Mashhud Chowdhury for alleged embezzlement of about Tk 203.0 million of the Trust Bank. Mashhud was the ex-officio chairman of the bank when he was the Chief of Army Staff in 2002. Rahman first went to Ramna police station to file the FIR at 4:40pm, but AC Mustafizur Rahman declined to register it on the ground that the place of occurrence is not under its jurisdiction. He then moved to Motijheel police station at 5:20pm, but OC Fazlur Rahman also refused to accept the FIR on the same ground. — UNB
