Rampant sale of sub-standard guidebooks goes on in Kushtia

KUSHTIA, Mar 31: The business of sub-standard notes and guidebooks has been gaining momentum in the district during the current academic year defying the existing law of the Ministry of Education and the government. It is known that a group of publishers and dishonest teachers doing this business in order to earn profits by suggesting and selling the books. According to sources the government completed supply of all the textbooks during the month of January. Dishonest sellers have taken a policy to sell guidebooks and others like grammar as they offer handsome amount of money the local administration and teachers' association so that they select those books for the students, it is alleged. Guardians alleged that the books selected for the students are costly and of low grade in binding quality. It is known that the dishonest publishers are busy selling rapid readers of Bangla and English, Bangla grammar and English grammar books of different publications. They do not push the students to collect books that have been selected from class six to nine by the National Curriculum and Text Board (NCTB).
