NILPHAMARI, Mar 2: Rampant smuggling of spices, drug and arms taking place in the trains running between Rajshahi Chilahati and Khulna Chilahati section of Bangladesh Railway.
Smuggling goes on at Hili Railway Station, south of Parbotipur railway junction where there is a strong gang of smugglers active in smuggling round the year.
Hili railway station stands at the zero point of Indo-Bangladesh borders where the gang of smugglers resort to the illegal business. They transport the goods in all the Intercity and local trains such as Titumir, Borendra, Simanta, Rupsha, Drutojan and so on.
When the trains stops at Hili station, the gang rush from Indian side to hand over the goods to their Bangladeshi cohorts. Sources claim BGB and railway security forces also co-operate in smuggling against a share of the profit that the smugglers earn.
