Rangpur bidi workers demand tax cut

Greater Rangpur Bidi Workers Union formed a human chain on Thursday to press for their four-point demand, including a cut in tax on bidis in the upcoming budget.
About 1,000 workers took part in the demonstration held in front of Rangpur Collectorate Surovi Uddan in the morning, says a press release.
After the programme the leaders of the organisation submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Rangpur Deputy Commissioner with a call to meet their demand.
Bangladesh Bidi Shramik Federation President Amin Uddin, Vice Presidents Nazim Uddin and Anower Hossain, General Secretary Harik Hossain, Joint Secretaries Abdul Gofur, Abul Hasnat Lavlu and Shamim Islam joined the demonstration.
