Rangpur sees record rainfall

Rangpur received 447mm of rainfall on Sunday, the highest in the last one decade, as monsoon was fairly active over Bangladesh but weak to moderate over the North Bay, according to the Met office.
However, there was no mentionable rainfall in Dhaka until 6:00pm on the day, it said.
The Met office forecast that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at some places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions today (Monday).
Moderate to moderately heavy rainfall may take place elsewhere in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions while the day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country, it added.
The maximum temperature recorded in Dhaka on Sunday was 30.9 degrees Celsius as against 31.7 degrees Celsius the previous day.
And the rate of humidity went up to as high as 86 per cent, said the Met office.
The country's highest temperature of 35 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rajshahi on Sunday.
According to the Met Office, rain or thundershowers activity may increase in the next five days.
The sun sets in Dhaka at 05:48 pm today (Monday) and will rise at 05:49 am tomorrow (Tuesday).
