Rangpur Sugar Mill suspends production

GAIBANDHA, Feb 18 (UNB): Rangpur Sugar Mill at Mahimaganj of the district suspended production Saturday due to short supply of sugar cane, though the mill exceeded the production target.
Managing Director Shibendra Nath Sarkar said the mill, which resumed its production on Dec 7, 2007 after three years break, set up a target to produce 5,075 tonnes of sugar by crushing 70,000 tonnes of sugar canes this season.
The mill has crushed 83,412 tonnes sugar cane in its 71 working days until Saturday, which is 13,412 tonnes and produced 5,300 tonnes of sugar.
