Rangpur to be gridlock free, modern city: Mayor

Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu said Rangpur will become a traffic-jam free and modern city with well-planned road communication networks. To achieve the goal, all infrastructural development work like construction of roads, bridges, culverts, housing, institutions, sewerage systems, water and electricity supply lines are being conducted as per a long-term master plan, said Jhantu while launching construction work of the road carpeting and drainage systems at Purbopara Monthona under Ward No-01 and Paschim Gopinathpur area under Ward No-12 in the city. The development works are being conducted as a part of the phase-wise construction packages of 72 roads, drains, culverts and others in the city corporation area at a cost of Tk 180 million in the city corporation area. After inaugurating construction works, the RCC Mayor directed the authorities concerned, officials and contractors for ensuring the best quality of all construction works being done in the city with maximum transparency and accountability, according to BSS.
