Rangpur transport strike suspended for 72 hours

Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation has decided to keep their indefinite transport strike in Rangpur Division in abeyance for 72 hours.
The strike was called in protest against vandalisation of vehicles in the aftermath of the killing of a local Awami League leader.
The federation decided to suspend their strike following an emergency meeting held Tuesday at its office at Rangpur central bus terminal, wherein police gave an assurance to soon arrest those responsible for torching and damaging vehicles.
General Secretary of the federation's Rangpur unit Abdul Majid emerging from the meeting informed the reporters about their decision, according to a news agency.
