Friday, 8 August 2014

An indigenous community leader of Chapainawabganj says she has been raped by people who are after her land. Worse, the miscreants who attacked and raped her have not been caught, she says. In an interview with bdnews24.com, the victim named the alleged rapists and said the assault aimed at taking over her land. The Chapainawabganj district committee chief of the National Indigenous Council said she was working at her paddy field at her village home in Jinarpur on August 4 when she was attacked by her opponents. She said she had asked her workers and relatives to save themselves. When everyone fled, three of the attackers took turns with her. A case over the incident was filed on Monday night accusing 33 people – 18 of them unidentified. Police arrested one of the accused, Ziaul Karim, but the victim alleged the ‘rapists’ were still at large, according to bdnews24.com.
