Our CorrespondentKHULNA, Nov 1: The traditional Rash Mela will begin from November 8 at Alorkol of Dublarchar adjacent to the largest mangrove forest Sundarbons under Mongla Thana of Bagerhat district.
Organisers of the fair expect over 0.01m visitors will gather this time from home and abroad at the mela, which will end on November 10.
The traditional Rash Mela that has been taking place in the full moon during the Bengali month of Kartik every year is considered as a big religious festival of Hindu community. The oldest Bouddha Bihar, Sree Mangal Bihar, in the southern part of the country at Kuakata is another attraction for the tourists of both home and abroad. The wide shining sandy beach and the glittering waves of the Bay of Bengal make it one of the most attractive tourist's spots in Bangladesh.
Pilgrims perform their holy bath in saline water of Bay of Bengal during the hundred-year-traditional Rash festivals. The visitors and pilgrims come to the Mela by launches, trawlers and boats.
