Citibank, N.A. announces the appointment of Rashed Maqsood Managing Director & Citi Country Officer - Bangladesh. As Citi Country Officer (CCO) Maqsood assumes the role of leading the Citi franchise in Bangladesh. The CCO is responsible for the safety and soundness of Citi's country franchise by ensuring that there is strong governance across the entire franchise. With more than 18 years banking experiences, Maqsood assumed the Country Business Manager - Citi Bangladesh responsibility in December 2010. Prior to that, Maqsood was the Head of Global Transaction Services (GTS) for Citi Indonesia, based in Jakarta for the last three years. Under his dynamic leadership the strong momentum of GTS continued as a dominant business - and overall GTS revenue grew significantly. During his tenure, GTS Indonesia won the prestigious 'Best Transaction Bank in Indonesia' and 'Best Cash Management Bank in Indonesia' awards from the Asset Magazine. Maqsood started his career with Citi in Bangladesh in 1995 as a relationship manager before going on to lead the newly established Corporate Banking Business franchise in Bangladesh. In 2001 Maqsood assumed the role of Head of Financial Institutions Group in Citi Bangladesh and in 2003, he took over the newly established Global Transaction Services business in Bangladesh. He successfully grew the GTS business into the leading cash management franchise in Bangladesh. Maqsood is a strong supporter of various CSR initiatives including financial education for the youth and Bangladeshi culture and music. He is proactively involved with the initiatives supported by the Citi Foundation - the philanthropic arm of Citi and also oversees the Corporate Affairs function. In Bangladesh, he successfully rolled out Citi's flagship initiative - the Citi Microentrepreneurship Award for three consecutive years. He was also closely involved in the initiatives like the Citi Financial Quiz - a programme to encourage talented university students to seek financial knowledge and Ganne Ganne Gunijon Shonbordhona - a platform to honor renowned artists for their outstanding contribution towards Bangladeshi music. Before joining Citi, Maqsood worked in Corporate Banking at American Express Bank. He was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh and received a MBA majoring in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University. He also holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce from Dhaka University. He attended various international senior leadership programmes across Asia Pacific and Europe.
