Raushan slams Muhith for \\\'mishandling\\\' financial sector

Opposition leader Raushan Ershad on Saturday came down heavily on Finance Minister AMA Muhith and Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman for what she said mishandling the country’s financial sector. ‘We’ve got an efficient Finance Minister and Bangladesh Bank governor, then why on earth did the incident of Hall Mark happen, why did the share market suffer a debacle, why are banks now turning bankrupt?’ she questioned. Raushan said that the people of the country are not feeling safe in depositing their hard-earned money with banks. ‘People can’t keep their trust in the banks, people are worried thinking that it’s not safe to deposit their money with banks… why did this happen?’ she said. Lamenting impunity for committing financial crimes, the Opposition Leader said the culprits are not being brought to justice. ‘People are thinking nobody is getting punishment, those who are arrested are not put on trial,’ she said, according to a news agency.
