Opposition leader Raushon Ershad Monday said an uncertainty is there over achieving the GDP growth and revenue collection targets in the next fiscal year due to sluggish investment and the banking sector instability. "There’s now stagnancy in investment, while instability in the banking sector in addition to the country’s political uncertainty. So, there’s an uncertainty in revenue collection. It'll be difficult and arduous," she said while participating in the general discussion on the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2015-16. Raushon stressed the need for strengthening the Board of Investment (BoI) and improving infrastructure with land, and power gas supplies to attract investment.
About the banking sector, she said the banking sector is now in a very poor condition. "Politicians are recruited to boards of directors of banks in many cases, who help provide loans and wave interest on political consideration," according to a news agency.
