RCC announces Tk 5.471b budget

RAJSHAHI, July 03 (BSS): Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has announced a budget worth over Tk 5.471 billion (Tk 547.18 crore) for fiscal year 2019-2020, reports BSS.
RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton announced the annual budget at a press conference at Nagar Bhaban in the north-western divisional city.
No new tax has been imposed in the proposed budget.
Highlighting the overview of the ongoing and proposed development projects of the corporation he stated that the budget has been formulated for expanding civic services.
Mayor Liton, who announced the first annual budget of the present council, said the proposed budget for current 2018-19 was over Tk 7.523 billion (Tk 752.37 crore), which has been revised at Tk 3.248 billion (Tk 324.89 crore).
At the press conference, the Mayor said six major projects on infrastructure developments are being implemented at a total cost of around Tk 795.59 crore in the city.
"We have planned eight more need-based projects with an estimated cost of around Tk 9,139.32 crore," he stated.
He said the city corporation has been implementing various programmes to bring a qualitative change particularly in the field of infrastructural and
environmental elevation in the metropolitan city.
"We are planning to establish Sheikh Russell Science City and Safari Park in the city on 100 acres of land with an estimated cost of around Tk 511.09 crore within a shortest possible time," Liton added.
Panel mayors, councilors and the officials concerned were present at the press conference.
