RCC Mayor Minu detained again

RAJSHAHI, June 11 (Agencies): Police have detained Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor and former BNP lawmaker Mizanur Rahman Minu again, a day after he was released on bail from jail.
Boalia police arrested the mayor Monday when he went to his Nagar Bhaban office in the morning.
Police also resisted photojournalists when they tried to take photographs of the arrest and also reportedly damaged a vehicle of a CSB photojournalist.
Minu reportedly went into hiding after he got bail in an extortion case Sunday. Joint forces continued to search for him in the city all night.
Asked why he was arrested even after being bailed out, Assistant Police Commissioner Md Kafil Uddin said that he had been arrested under the Emergency Powers Rules.
Earlier, on June 6, Minu surrendered to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court and prayed for bail in an extortion case, but the court sent him to jail rejecting his bail prayer.
However, he was released on bail from the jail at about 5:45 pm Sunday (June 10).
