RDA to construct Bangabandhu Square soon

RAJSHAHI, Jan 14: 'Bangabandhu Square' will be constructed at a cost of Tk 592.8 million at Talamari crossing in the city.
Sources informed Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA) will implement the project as soon as possible. The meeting of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday last approved the project.
RDA sources said the project has been taken up to enhance the charm and attraction of the city further. It will also act positively for increasing consciousness among young generation of the country to be conscious about the supreme sacrifice of Bangabandhu.
Principal Bazlur Rahman, chairman of RDA, said soon the tender of the construction work will be invited and the works of the project will be finished within a shortest possible time.
He further said under the project, a three storied building will be constructed on 42 acres of land where facilities of vehicles parking in the basement, amphitheatre, art gallery, waterfalls and a sculpture of Bangabandhu will be provided. There will be sophisticated sound system, museum and lighting and digitalised gallery at the ground floor.
Moreover, in the first floor, a restaurant, eye catching landscape, open ground to sit and amusement will be set up. There will be three lifts, generator, solar panel and a substation to supply electricity. 251 metres of road will be developed for implementation of the project. There will be also interior and landscaping of the square with murals covering 529.74 square metre of areas and 955 metre RCC drain will also be constructed under the project. The project is expected to be finished by June next year.
Principal Bazlur Rahman further said, aiming at promoting the consciousness about Bangabandhu, he has initiated to beautify the city of Rajshahi. The Bangabandhu square which will be near the entrance of Rajshahi University of Science and Technology and the Rajshahi University will increase the attraction of the city further.
RDA chairman also expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for approval of the project and said, he hoped, the cooperation of the Prime Minister for development of Rajshahi will continue further.
